On Saturday, Wil is teaching a sketching class, beginning on the rooftop of the Three Trails Hotel. No experience necessary.

All these images are from my hiking sketch book and are 3 x 5 inches. Most are pencil or color pencil. A few have some watercolor as well. I have drawn these all last fall and this year.

Misty Morning on the Mountain to Sea trail

This is one of those paintings where everything went well. 1st, the hike on the Mountain to Sea trail was beautiful. Next, back in my studio each part of this painting came out great. The background has many layers, the tree line fades in and out of view, and the fallen limbs have a wet feeling. Perfect. This is a framed watercolor painting, 8 x 10 for $490. You can see the trail blaze on the tree second to the right.

Fire Series

Here is another painting in my fire series.  This is a small painting, 8 x 12 acrylic on canvas.  I painted around the edge on this one, even putting my signature on the edge.  In the ground, I used some of the metallic paints from Golden paints.  This adds a great reflective quality to the an otherwise less important part of the painting. I am very happy with the many layers in the back ground.  There are parts of the back ground that are very dark violet in contrast with the bright orange flames.
