Hike & Sketch on the Carolina Thread Trail

MOVED TO THE FALL! Date to be determined.

Join local artist Wil Bosbyshell and the Carolina Thread Trail for a fun, short sketching hike at Forney Creek Trail in Lincoln County, NC. Attendees will meet at the trailhead parking lot, then hike to a suspension bridge approximately 0.1 miles down the trail. The program will start with a quick sketching demonstration followed by free time to create your own artwork. All necessary sketching materials will be provided, and you will get to keep your sketchbook at the end of the program.

Distance: 1 mile

Time: 9:30am EDT - 11:30am EDT

Trail description: Natural surface trail, begins with a steep downhill slope and levels out quickly

Age restrictions? None

Dogs allowed? Yes

Bathrooms available? Bathrooms available across the street at Sally's Y

What to bring/wear: Comfortable walking clothing, hat, water, hiking chair (something to sit on, like a poncho or chair)

What is provided: Small Sketch book to keep, color pencils to use on the hike, first aid kit, bug spray and sunscreen

Cost: $25/adult; Children 12 and under are free

Hiking Sketch Book Part 3

Spent last weekend at Elkin Trail days. I added to my hiking sketch book for this year. I use several mediums in my sketch book: graphite, color pencil and watercolor. I hike along the MST, Mountain to Sea Trail, the Blue Ridge Parkway and other trails. Many of these are from the MST section beginning at Grassy Creek Wintery to Carter Falls north of Elkin NC.
