Playing around in my figure sketch book. Here is a sketch of the female lead in the latest True Grit movie: Hailee Steinfeld. 

Cityscape Sketches done with Mono-printing Technique

 

Before I do almost any painting, I do a sketch. For my cityscape series I did the sketches as mono-prints. I used a photo, transferred the photo in high contracts black and white to sketch paper. Then I would do a layer or two of watercolor. Then I would finish the sketch with color pencil or pastel. 

The mono-print technique is very fast and allows for a great deal of spontaneity! Great fun! 

Southend Cityscapes and Charlotte Cityscapes

Since The Charlotte Business Journal published one of my fireworks paintings, I thought I would post a few more of my cityscapes from Charlotte. These are watercolor, oil and acrylic. 

 

Business Journal Book of Lists 2021

One of my Charlotte cityscape paintings is featured in the 2021 Business Journal Book of lists. My section is on page 189. This painting was done for the Susan G. Komen fundraiser in spring of 2020. All the lights on top of the buildings are pink as well as the fire works. 
 

Mechanical Drawings 2021

I started doing these as a coloring book for my young son. Then to play around with Illustrator and photoshop. Anyway, they are really fun. All of these are from 1960s and 1970s TV shows or Movies. Above is Fantastic Voyage.
